UNSDCF Joint Steering Committee High Level Field Visits Report 2026
We are pleased to present this report on the UNSDCF Joint Steering Committee High-Level Field Visits conducted across Sierra Leone between April and May 2026. These missions provided an important opportunity to engage directly with communities and witness the tangible impact of United Nations-supported interventions. Across diverse regions, we observed real and measurable progress. In Rokupr, a women-led rice cooperative has grown from just five members to over 750, now supplying national markets. In Makeni, a poultry enterprise has expanded production, trained hundreds of young people, and catalysed new farms nationwide. In Mamuduya, women farmers are using solar-powered irrigation to transition to year-round, climate-resilient agriculture. In the social sectors, integrated services are transforming lives. In Koinadugu, a One-Stop Centre has supported survivors of gender-based violence with comprehensive care, while in Moyamba, access to renewable energy is improving livelihoods and essential services for thousands of people. Women’s economic empowerment is also advancing significantly, with cooperatives in Kenema expanding from a few dozen members to over 1,500. These examples demonstrate the power of integrated, multi-sectoral approaches in delivering inclusive and sustainable results aligned with Sierra Leone’s national priorities. They also highlight the resilience and leadership of communities at the heart of this progress. The United Nations remains committed to working with the Government and partners to scale up these successes and accelerate progress toward a more inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous Sierra Leone.
